A very well written page turner that takes you into a very exciting period of time in Miami and the Bahamas. Lots of interesting historical facts. Learned a lot of interesting information. Would be great candidate for a Hollywood movie

I got interested in Miami Outlaw after watching the documentary—it really pulled me in and made me want to know more. The book didn’t disappoint at all. From the very beginning, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. There’s so much interesting history woven into the story, and the different voices and perspectives kept it fresh and engaging the whole way through. I also liked how it included so many details about sports—you really get a sense of how important sports are in American culture. It felt like getting a front-row seat to a wild chapter of Miami’s past. Definitely worth the read if you’re into true crime or stories with real depth.

Read this book cover to cover. It was hard to put this book down. It so had my attention that I even read all the of credits and footnotes. The geographical and historical information alone was a great read.
Wow, what a story! After reading that last 50 pages or so, I am surprised that you guys are still above ground. Reading this book was like watching the movie “Goodfellas” with Scott narrating the events like Henry Hill in the movie. Very well done -- hope to one day see it in movie format.

I got this book from my friend and wanted to read it over the summer but it didn’t last. Never thought it was going to be so captivating. Wish the second book was ready.
I got this from my friend and as a local from Miami I’m blown away. What an amazing read. I love Native American culture and it was very revealing about their history in Florida and the Bahamas. Thank you for such an amazing book Mr Sherouse. Thank you!

As a local tour guide, this book has provided me incredible knowledge in a readable and fun format. Anyone interested in any of Miami’s facets should read this. It is pretty defining for the region, don’t know a book as deep as this one and with so many fun layers. Great read! Can’t wait for the second one in the series.

I’m 2/3 of the way through it and so far it’s outstanding. I’ve read a lot of the drug smuggling genre, all fascinating, lots of “shoot em up” action. Wash, rinse, repeat. Book after book.

Scotts book is the first I’ve read that includes the regions history and how it ties into the main story. I know Scott personally and his lifelong constant pursuit of knowledge lends an extra margin of credibility to the story while presenting a deeper angle than any other book I’ve read in this genre.

Those who doesn’t know Scott’s background in this manner may discount the historical references as an attempt to rewrite history and change his image…a low life trying to present as a learned intellectual after the felonious fact. Hopefully the readers open their mind to the possibility that a smart successful good American can explain a story in which he’s involved in an almost third party, anthropological way.

I love the history that accompanies the story and I love how long the book is. I wish it were longer.

Miami Outlaw; Kid to Kingpin by Capt. Scott Sherouse PhD offers a compelling window into a pivotal era of Miami’s history through the lives of two friends from starkly different backgrounds.
Beginning with an insightful overview of the Bahamas role in the smuggling of goods to the United States. The book introduces Scott and Alex, whose friendship defies their contrasting upbrings. Scott hailing from a family of highly educated parents one a prominent Miami attorney and his mother a Full Professor at a local college, while Alex emerges from immigrant roots marked by tragic loss and resilience.
Scott skillfully weaves a series of engaging capers that not only chart the boy’s escapades but also vividly evokes the Miami of that time – a city flush with cash, where fortunes were made and lost in the blink of an eye. For readers familiar with this era, the narrative resonates deeply, capturing both the vibrant highs and the shadowy undercurrents of a unique chapter in the American urban history. The author’s portrayal stands out for its unique memories into a cohesive story of how Miami and the Bahamas influenced their development.
As a reviewer, I wholeheartedly endorse this novel. It transcends the typical story of contraband and crimes to become a rich nuanced snapshot of place and period, anchored by the enduring bond between two men shaped by extraordinary circumstances. Miami Outlaw is a must read for anyone interested in the complex tapestry of Miami’s past and the human stories behind its legendary reputation.
